Once mayors and pols and hopeful heroes and all saints ran on the joys and integrity of quality of life issues.

Oh. Wonderful. Clean streets. Trash pick up. Community policing. Bye bye abandoned cars …. abandoned buildings … on and on and etc and etc.

Oh. Wonderful. This seemed like a good deal … good smarts …. good tries for stability …. smart canny bottom up responses to to decay and decay.

Oh. Wonderful. Quality of life is a good thing. Most folks want it. Most loud mouths promise that it will come by osmosis. Oh. Wonderful.

Local police forces are underfunded ….. invitations to ruin.

Local school distr9icts are underfunded ….. happy political and other invitations to ruin.

Local roads, infrastructure, physical plants ……. rancid with decay.

Dead zones ……. a look and feel attractive to those far away and long gone.

The world is awash in fond little, scummy, feted little Capture the Flag little tin pots and vile scourge like little scavengers and killers who just live to play little zero sum games and just live for the mean little chase, the happy little maim, the break, the kill. Tis the new shiny irrevocable epoch of the new shiny century. There is no Pax of ordered violence …. there is only the games of nihilist euphoria and abject purging. Business models built upon non existent labor costs seem to have been built and imagined when those non existent labor costs represented just poor transient income for poor transient laborers in need of such monies as simple supplements or temporary respites. ……. just the world in which we live today.

Poor poor Labor has always been there to be exploited …. the high laws of mawkishly simple supply and demand. Bad, evil organized labor balances all those monetarily rancid powers some. With labor as a source of controlled resource there are then the joys of the power plays for who may exploit best. …… With labor as a source of controlled resource there may be then slightly more equanimity ……. a more democratic crowd of thug.

There will always be too damned many poor folk. They may wish to sell cheap any and everything over which they have control. They may lie, cheat, steal and kill. That there tis an ugly world the world of the poor. Organized, unorganized, multiplied and surely they may fight, blow, riot and challenge. Co-opt them with words, clubs, slogans and caste systems.
