There was a time, not too very long ago, when the world, tired and weary, spent and full of promise fought against absolutism and found it to be the stuff of danger and death.

There was a time, not too very long ago, when the world, tired and weary, spent and full of promise fought the good fight, knew the good know, saw the good see, and developed the feel for the blowhards and the scammers who had, they themselves, the message of messages.

There was a time, not too very long ago, when the world, tired and weary, spent and full of promise pretended that the time had come for civilization to mean civilized and for straight jackets upon the mind to be ripped and torn and shredded.

There was a time, not too very long ago, when the world, tired and weary, spent and full of promise fought to stop the might of the dead from being the right for the living.  It was not good to be an devolved ideologue,zealot, fanatic, totalitarian with trimmings.

There was a time, not too very long ago, when the world, tired and weary, spent and full of promise figured that the sainted “authoritarian personality” was something to not cherish, honor and obey.. there was a time when jack booted absolutists were on the defensive and seen as dim.

There was a time, not too very long ago, when the world, tired and weary, spent and full of promise fought other battles while sleepily letting the killers of thought and idea gain footholds every where by selling themselves as true intimidators.

Once upon truth and identity looked as if they would take work to find.  In days of naivete and grace.

Its nice to be a hero.  Its nice to ride in on a white steed and charge into the frey with the swords of passion and the regrets of none.

Its nice to be a hero.  Its nice to be the last standard bearing icon left to stand against the tide of winged bats and putrid lice.

Its nice to be a hero.  Its nice to swing and sway and teeter and topple and wear the crown of golden hubris.

Its nice to be a hero.  Its nice to dig deep inside and to be able to find the strength to set right the course of time for the eternities yet to come and to set right the thoughts of the lame for the eternities they must spend in hell.

Its nice to be a hero.  Its nice to be soulful and practiced and mournful and scornful and to dirty oneself with the muck and mire of the rancid wretched writhing here upon the earthly plain.

Its nice to be a hero.  Its nice to live as a martyr to commitments made by the song so that survival comes to the good….. all  divine rules and clear paths to Valhalla.

Spare me now and spare me please the true believers, the obsessively noble and true.  The doers to others do as reward for the red lamps in the windows of nice.   Little self loving scripts are what they have, what we get and the stuff of wasted pieces of time…. my time.

The conundrum of envy for the rights of a union wage without the choice understanding that such competition may in rational mode raise all boats of pay and prey and that diminishing same cuts some very effective tools for any  competitive edge for workers to obtain….. silly lessons from the bloody dirty past.

Put upon unions like all good organizations, businesses, governments and loud mouths may also become power hungry, corrupt, ravenous and obnoxious  …. but fundamental truth still remains …. they are the last best firewall against the serfdom so many seem to crave.

Capital needs its flexibility … to own workers, their lives, their privacy, their habits, their futures.  The trust in these benign forces who seek interests other than their own is the fantasy of those of certain persuasions … the rising tide that raises all boats of capital does so only if all boats are not dammed off in rotten cesspools.  Battles won by an awful lot of sainted forbearers  in the America of poetry charmed by those who wish to have the poetry of happy paternalism and trust in their good offices are battles lost, diminished, negated, forgotten.

Since the wise trust none ….. the distrust of all is as sane as the distrust of the poor, poor, laborer who depends upon those who move our mountains…… none of which just know how to manipulate money and systems and things.

As in many things…there are always the pendulum shifts …… gorging labor ain’t no damn good….. killers of capital capital killing humbles us in our praise of the ruthless of old.  Lets all stand with them.

Buck up and to yell like a banshee and charge into the frey without tools and materials and live off of the land by scraping the droppings of wild plants.

Go buy a money tree.

Have a rational conversation about a rational safety net or a society structured as feudal with coming pleas only for the thrill of being a wage slave to those who are little bits of tin pot martinets.

Lets go back to  company thugs bashing those who have to fight for air and squalor.

Lets raise expectations and expect a middle class standard of living with the new mean one standard deviation to the wrong side ….. middle is a relative term.

Lets have an irrational approach to hard times and its story … what it should look  like … those who have are afraid to lose it ….those who don’t get the smell of too damned down….. Put that in your babble and melt it.

Let drowning folk drown and to let those who have get raped…. The real essays of our moment in the sun…. the pangs of our dreams.

Because they love America and all that it stands for and all that it represents in the vast panorama of history’s honest march towards mock and civilization.

Because they love America and cherish its honor, its principles of heaven on havens of earth and sea.

Because they love America, wage their wars of affirmation, attrition, issues soft and false and true of heart.

Because they love America and wish it to be the  hill and the light and the conscience.

Because they love America they are chaste in their appetites, holy in their love.

Because they love America they are the vetters of emotion, the stranglers of wit and wisdom, the stranglers of charity.

The dupes of convenience  The fops of disparity.

Because they love America they are the simple and the profiteers of coarse.

Because they love America they wish to dry the manic, dry that which never festers.

Because they love America there is the thrill of the conquest, the chase, the surrender of the object of their love.

Because they love America there is the thrill, the rapture, the deep ache.

Because they love America there is the ravage, the will, the breaking of, the diminishing to bloody.

Because they love America their air turns pure with rancid, dirt and sin;  pure with rancid, flame and desire; pore with fire, guile, heartache; pure with blood and sweat and fears and tears.

To open wounds and cause infection.  The rewards of love.  The rewards of the love of America.

It must be because evil communists and therefor like minded socialists were our latest and greatest eternal and existential foe or because the fascists and statists were just those funny little killers and murderers and fiends who were rancid monsters in the glory days of pre history but any and all upon the left side of the political spectrum can be demonized and censured and hated and scorned and be put on the righteous defensive by any and all allusions to the grand devils of Stalinland while the holy right side of the spectrum can never be linked to the extreme natures of their beings … the eternal monstrous fascists impulses and states of grand self serving grace.

Allusions to the extremes work well for all base alluders and rank fear mongers but the allusions to any poor righteous bastards who are in over their heads and conscience  are passed over as unworkable, untoward, and measly and mealy mouthed.

No primal latent streak of accommodating warmth for the efficiencies of the good dictator or efficient fascist state could ever prevents traction from being gotten by foolish comparison or observation.  High umbrage,  crying self righteousness and victimhood comes tearfully from those labeled so.  … they have the immunity of the strong while their opposites have the weaknesses of the weak.

Rank bastards are rank bastards no matter the stripe or color….. no matter the evil or the spewing exaggerations …. but there may be a secret tender heart lurking here for certain kinds of rank bastards …. toughness is good.

The myth is the thing that curls the sinews of hope and beauty and that singes the hearts of those with cloven hoof.

The myth is the thing that carries the light, that puts wind over the ice, that makes the fires glow.

The myth is the grand grey god of the public species.  The myth is home, history, story, self aggrandizement.  The myth is the home to self parody and blood platelets  of gold.

The myth is the shield, the badge, the banner, the flag.  The myth is the war cry, the identifier, the devil.  The myth is the soul of thought, the excuse for being.  Still the myth.  Still the story.  Write the book.  Be a chronicler of self and character, degenerate and lover, loser and friend.

Sell the myth.  Sell the present.  Speculate upon the currencies of action, standards, identification, disease.  Justify force and rejoinder, intimidation and class, derision and smile.  The best base elements of sum and scum.

The quality of the argument defines the quality of the position. Nimble minds and flirtatious walks bring in the clouds and the mists and the dreams and longings of those in between the heavens of their hearts and the hells of trying to process facts in a logical and orderly manner.

We have the low weasels and the cynical travelers framing issue and stance, policy and lewdness, public consciousness.

Good argument stimulates, opens vistas, breaks down barriers, gains attention, cancels stupidity.  Good argument comes from fine minds working finely.  Good argument is a blessing… a chance to test the theories and positions of ones heart, hearth and head.  Good argument is for those who give a damn.

Fine minds are for the timid.  Fine minds get blown away by the loud, the bellicose, the self satisfied and the self righteous.  Fine minds are rational, often reasonable, usually smug.  Fine minds never intimidate the ones who know thought to be a trap and a sham.  Fine minds are usually suckers.  But they are fine minds.

All public discussions come hat in hand with the gross perspectives of dancing maypole fairies loping around the serendipitous maypoles of hard candy swathed in base acidic rot.

The joy and honor and schemy little perspectives of small and shrunken motived panderers and culture  destroyers holds them up as the merry rakes of the proactive salacious and the sales folk of high moral rectitude and abundant moral character.  There is the practiced view of deep thinkers and tinkerers and of those who measure their words carefully as to not spew out the worst of language and idea reflecting pygmy provocateurs.

The daily grind for the daily battles for the daily hearts and minds of the daily dead who try to find solace and direction from the holy heathens of mouthy spews and political talk, sincere policy, intrigue and jest is a grind made for the nimble on the eternal circle wheels and treadmills loved so by those who’s ever wishes are to chase their tales and their fancies until they are able to catch up with the vast illusory acid that is offered.

This is the chase of those bred to it.  It is the life of those worth being.
