Is there really a public will to make the poor less poor, the uninformed less uninformed, the aggressors less aggressive, the disdainful less so?

Is there really a public will to have jobs for those who are not set up to have jobs, who are out of sinc with the ways of the new world?

Is there really a public will to actually create private / public reorganizations of works and sustainability for those in the chronic loops to nowhere?

Infrastructure works, civilian corps to deal with domestic short comings as needed. Tax incentives. Plans to harness the labor of the unnecessary labor pool.

Is there enough food, clothing, shelter to be obtained under optimum conditions.? If so then that supply is not the issue. The demand is not the issue. The mechanics could use a little help.

When a system is non responsive to the interests of its members it is because there is no actual mechanism that would translate real interests into the ability to act upon same.

Politics is push and pull, force and deterrence, will and balance, access to the levers and the powers of the state or governing body.

When those who are able to be of governance have allegiance to power coordination responsive to only power plays then power is the interest that gets served. In the vacuum of any shared responsibility for working government power plays are what is left. Power plays and threats of chaos.

Owning and breaking become the traits to have.

The fractured society sees itself as one with many interests all aiming to improve the lives of those holding them. Identities, needs, alliances, fights, superficialities, the need for swords and big sticks abound. The character of the fracture invites battle without synthesis, thesis based on immutable premise.

The fracture depends upon true believers and real enemies, common and special. The glues of vision and respect dissipate as these things are chimera and ghostly, power is challenged, torn at, dismissed.

Order may be begged for and may be instilled and installed by those who can gain the rational of force. With no common framework of respect, respect reverts to the intimidators, the owners, the breakers. Owning and breaking become the traits to have. These are growth areas.

Schools is place to keep the young off of the streets so that they can only harm each other.

Because we are an educated civilized society we, across the spectrum of class and ideology know that teaching is done by those who wish their summers off and are unfit for anything else and that there is no subject matter taught in schools that cannot be taken up and internalized by the street wise player who is naturally smarter than any educated dolt.

When we wish dumb to be our national obsession and we wish curriculum to feed our social, political, ideological agendas, when we wish to make teaching as unattractive an option as possible to anyone of substance, when we know that calling teaching a profession and treating it as such is just an excuse to steal tax payers money then we are truly in our heaven sent elements and truly working hard to keep education the whore’s game it has become.

Poor society. The disintegrating middle and the road warriors of legend.

Whence there was once a strong and vibrant middle class around to reflect upon and infuse society with the banalities of the bourgeoisie and the stabilities of the safe and secure and the passing appreciations for the good things on earth and the worlds that projected and protected them ….

The rosy lens of that once upon a time was set in a different milieu, in a world where a broad swath of all aspired to be thinkers and tinkers and aspired to take a critical look at the passing parade. The paradigm shift had not yet occurred. The battles and jungles that serve as the fine and mellow templates of societal norms had not yet been firmly established. Might had not yet made right. Dominance had not yet broken through as the word of the heart.

It is far easier to break the backs of those we own rather than try to do so to those who own us.

The poor and the dispossessed have no powerful constituency and therefor can be easily vilified and labelled as cheats and pikers, welfare abusers, scum who steal money from the public trough.

The wealthy, the gods, the connected own constituencies and can then steal and plunder without push back from all guardians of public morals. Might makes right and might corrals the standard bearers of public decency.

The poor and the dispossessed can make sublime canon fodder for those who make the conflicts, the weapons, the games, but they are there to be used as a resource ….. too many stop being poor and dispossessed, start having a stake in society and good canon fodder gets harder to find.

Lower standards for acceptable ideas, ideals, principles, minds of value surface … the dumbing down of admired behavior rises.

The world gets smaller. Globalization gets stronger. Communications get quicker. Interactions get more open, less filtered. Mean levels of active, interactive populations decrease their levels of sophistication, awareness, shading, critical abilities effecting global, national norms, acceptable thought. Samples affecting global discourse are larger and larger, less evolved, less intellectually curious, aware, questioning, doubting. Lower standards for acceptable ideas, ideals, principles, minds of value surface … the dumbing down of admired behavior rises.

Passions, need, want, revenge, autocracy have greater, unchallenged intellectual worth. From the bottom floats up mores, ideas that attract. Values of what was once deemed to be the essences of civilization can no longer be supported. Based upon the premises that they are those of an enlightened mind, and enlightened population ….. these premise are in doubt.

New parameters have new standards. Vast ideas of moral, cultural equivalence come without questioning standards. The mights of guided passions make may rights. The embraces of those seemingly disenfranchised or less powerful allow for less questioning. Standards move over time. Some directions are ominous.

Resource, will, interest desire are engines for action. Vibrant public spheres is what we got.

All good capitalists know that a society puts its resources into areas it values, areas that provide efficiency and worth. Since we, here at home, value the checks and balances of politics and power it follows that our time, treasure, attention and energy be allocated some in that direction. And it is. The hammering of partisan virtue and candidates for sale show that the wars of money and effort are there to balance the public trust. Resource is efficiently allocated and the government is a good power broker and all benefit from the process.

Watchdogs and kind, media, press, interested parties and such are in an era of access to funds, abilities, cooperation and interest so that they can serve well their function as fourth and/ or fifth branches of government. They provide bang for the buck opening up the lines of power that push and pull at the all of everyday life.

Once again. All political systems, dream political systems, mock political systems, scam systems delve into the prospective, possible, proposed balance of rights, obligations, powers between and among the individual, the society. Rights, powers, times of same supersede or not those of the other.

The rise to power may with the individual be unchecked. The rise to rule may go towards the homogenous whole defining standards, behaviors, mores, allocations of resource. Totalitarianism may crush from either direction.

The fight is always joined by those who flock to the seek the wings of the spectrum. Loyalties, hopes, hatreds ride with the aims of those who see power, unbridled through the filters of their orientations.

For ever and always we have irresistible forces, immovable objects. Synthesis works in the lands of the healthy. In the lands not so conflict is enjoined.
