Once there was a melting pot. It was once a very good thing.
Once there was a melting pot. It was once a very good thing. The dominant culture was respectable, respected, if not perfect, not perfect …. and it was a good thing for other cultures to blend and to adapt and to melt into the dominant culture that many so admired from afar, from within.
Once there was a melting pot. It was once a very good thing. There was an assumption that respect would be given to minority ways if minority ways were willing to respect that the culture they were aspiring to was worthy of respect and celebration.
Once there was a melting pot. It was once a very good thing. A blend with the smaller elements adding spice and deference to the blended, melded, stronger star spangled fireworks exploding whole.
Once there was a melting pot. It was once a very good thing.
Patriots and heroes. The prideful and the prudent. The ever proud were of a mind to take the newly minted changes with the spirit of community, oneness, wholeness, nation …. the melded. the melders.
Once there was a melting pot. It was once a very good thing.
And also once upon another time there was a synthesis. A wrangling, a fusing, a battering, a dominating, suspending, retreating, challenging vital fight for the definition of the whole or the whole of the definition …. splinters, charges, domains, power contests, power balances, power imbalances.
Once there was a melting pot. It was once a very good thing.
Once there were angels. Once there were false gods. Once there were lovely narratives.
It was a very good thing.

Our cartoon characters or base villains don’t get play. Our mobs shine in the movies.

Since we here in good ole’ ‘merica are all part of one big happy cohesive whole of a family …. never we have to worry about tribalism, regionalism, sectarianism, sectionalism, separatism, fun …… all of the many and sundry forms and calls for the parties of joyful civil strife and sentient mob violence.
Since we here in good ole’ ‘merica are all part of one big happy cohesive whole of a family …. the undoing, the ungluing, the destroying of any and all foundational aspects of a civil society …. such are void and dead and civil society is safe and sound and able to solidify a solid central core of stability, able to stave off all challenges that may tear apart, invert, impute, coerce, empty, break or down, own, void the worlds of our fathers, our homes, our virtue, our heritage.
Since we here in good ole’ ‘merica are all part of one big happy cohesive whole of a family …. brother never ‘gainst brother, sister never ‘gainst sister, never etc and ad infinitum …. a crack in the wall of our perseverance will never be. Ours, a civil and political culture stronger than that. Ours, stronger and more centered political figures than that. We have better minds than that. Our cartoon characters or base villains don’t get play.
No devil provocateurs for us. No manipulators of events.
Our mobs shine in the movies.
