Free speech. Free money. Free manipulation of the poor over burdened political system and the poor under burdened voter.

Who spends what for what? Who is the champion of money talking ….. the rest walking? Ply the cracks in the system nine ways from Sunday…… power goes to those who hold the reins on the mechanisms and structures of government, power, politics, control of movement, resource, wealth, intimidation, muscle.

What balance want we , the sainted folk and people? What balance want we the desperate swimmers against the tide? Do we want owners who are high handed and sniveling or do we want owners who work in silence and cut throats in the still of the night?

Do we want owners who mandate our existence or do we want owners who pen us in, violate our beings, and leave us nowhere to go?

What skews the power towards the powerful? In these United States that used to be an important question? Never Again.

I don’t trust the bad guys either. I still wouldn’t want to feel at the mercy of a government grown too big and too powerful to confront. I like to feel that I am the master of my fate and that I can protect myself and my family if need be. Guns are a tool, a passion, a sport a symbol of self sufficiency. There is no need to demonize guns.

Guns do kill people. Point one at someone, pull the trigger, hit them in the right spot … they die. The eternal tradeoff. My sanctity as an individual vs the sanctity of crazy and bad and reckless individuals to render great harm.

There are dangers that go with the proliferation of weapons. There are infringements that go with the meddling of my rights to feel protected and whole. There is the eternal balance between the rights of the individual and the rights of a society.

Gun haters disrespect the honor of those who champion firearms.

Gun lovers disrespect the legitimate fears of those at the mercy of swift death.

With disrespect comes fear of total encroachment upon deeply held positions. With disrespect comes the desire to see those lined up opposite as wishing nowhere to stop. The extreme positions rule the battles, the thoughts, the power plays, the tempers. Screw you you commie bastard. Screw you you fascist Hun.

What is a rational gun policy? What respect do the advocates of the opposing positions give to the concerns of others. Not there that in any discussions … just the bluster. Have the advocates address the concerns and fears of their opposites. Have them be tough enough to set up a human mandate. Let them help solve the problems of quick death and mean intimidation … the problems of my rights to stave that off.

In the golden days of American politics the scripts were made for crooks, machines, thugs, pleaders and teasers. The great bosses and magnificent machines … the great wholly owned states and cities of song and story all captured graciously the grand frontier spirit of rugged individualism and social darwinism. The means of muscle and mischief, control of life and limb … these were the great American values bought and paid for by the keeping of the modicum of civil unrest at bay. Old fashioned stomping for the making. Old fashioned power for the taking. Worth the price of admission.

The club and the bat …. the thought police with soft persuasion … the virtuous America offering ways to nobility for creatures of all stripes and hues … a democratic way to gain influence and muscle ….. we love all of the seminal crooks and thugs of now and yore … midnight robin hoods beating the hell out of an unfortunate neighbor.

We don’t have yet today the colorful killers of yore and gore. We don’t have the smash and grab and break and own rulers of the hey day of American virtue. We have only the dim ideologues and vacuous pawns of grey folk who wish to drink well from the cups of public folly. Its the sleight of hand and the shell game and the misdirection and the raw meat to the hungry…. simple tricks that put off the harsh stuff for those that call out the play…. its still easy to ruin anyone.

I have access to power because all my efforts produce a grand wave of righteous insight and intelligence smart and tough enough not to be played to death.

I have access to power because I love order. I love law. I love freedom from chaos and having the strings pulled by those who will keep me safe and secure and free from contamination and the influences of despots and authoritarians.

Its nice to have a reliable caste system in place if you want stability and fodder …. useful useless bodies to use as clubs of regulation in the wars of attrition waged by those wishing to accede to the highest rungs of power and control in this our finely combed world wide delineation of joy, power, influence, force, damage.

Ideologies vie for supremacy. Political extremes vie foe hegemony. Creeps and vixens of all sorts pray to leap into the role of accepted royalty and loved dictator.

Here at home the working and non working poor are just hankering to apply for the roll of permanent all purpose untouchable so that we can have an easy peace in our rhetoric and know that they would cost the rest of us little save for cleaning unclaimed bodies off of needed streets and highways.

There is no politics like drama politics. The grand persuasions of bag men, lice, pop in jays, weak wannabees, pests, and true to life gangster stars sets the tone for all good and trustworthy true that may happen to happen to be.

Little bits of migrant flecks of deadenned dead puff up their chests and sing arias of culture whilst jack booting the stabs of disdain.

Little bits of flocking heroes squawk with graveled throats and hardened hearts and hands as they seek to use the tactics flowery open to all good overheated schoolyard punks and those butterflies who daily pray to the iron gods of holy intimidation.

The smart and the agile and the tough and the corrupt are the ones who earn their rewards and are the ones who earn their lengths and strengths and meanness and little bits of coy. These are scum, the successful, the players, the flatulators, the abominators, the desirably dim and unctuously convivial. These are the ones who own, the owners, the ones who own what they own and snuff out who they snuff out. These are the ones who understand….the ones who understand their little corners of heaven…our little bits of a bit of their own and our little bits of hubris and reach. Power is theirs.
