With our democracy being of the representative kind, the kind that reflects the good feelings and strong purposes of the folk good and true it id important to remember that governmental systems that play to the most broad based support generally are able to hurt comparatively the least amount of people.

When chimeras representation brings chimeras actions by chimeras pols and chimeras voters then enough chimeras voters believe enough chimeras nonsense so that enough chimeras nonsense calms the spirit and soothes the soul of the vacant put upon.

It is well known that the best systems hurt the the least folk. That what politics is good for….keeping the pain confined to a minimum of losers and sufferers and heretics of all types and stripes. Good systems cull the herd so that the self selection remaining is in a better position to become the happy property of the unwilling masters.

Democracy was made to make the unwilling masters work a little harder, make their pets a little more compliant, screw the heck out of a good nights sleep.

All rioters everywhere are all just rotten thugs and inane losers. All right thinking protesters of all right thinking societies are in the know about how to make the disenfranchised enfranchised. All haves everywhere know that they have the army the navy the marines and the militia of choice to stave off trouble from the rotten bastards who just are not gracious enough to appreciate that they breath the same air as their betters.

All smart moneyed smart money know that the unleashing of the great private engine of great private enterprise will certainly, greatly one day, tomorrow maybe, if not, then the day after that, the next day…or maybe the day after that…but surely for sure and definitely honest to goodness with a cherry on top the day after that get all the good solid hard charging sturdy jobs to all the meager loathsome vacant poor bastards who are crying,starving, wheedling and fulminating today.

…Patience. Patience. Patience. I got mine. I can wait…You…find a place in the woods….move in with your dead uncle. Visit your dead grandpa in the cemetery….subsist on the kindness of others.

Government has no place in making you whole… you lazy damned free loader of a drag on my existence. Buck up and stand the pain..You were bred for hard work and subsistence conditions anyway. What, me worry?

Power sells what it sells, keeps what it keeps, reaps what it reaps, sells the poor suckers the poor suckers. Power is pretty. Power is pert. That that’s good for power is honestly, really, truly, pretty please honestly, really, truly good for the honestly, really, truly poor little suckers.

Power is devious. Power is wise. Power is the calling. Smart users, honest cruel abusers…. power is as power does. The rest of the poor bastards is for hate. Hate, hate…sweet sweet hate. Hate, hate…sweet inviting hate. Hate, hate…sweet bed warming hate. Hate, hate…sweet aphrodisiac fomenting hate. Hate the champ. Hate the winners. Hate, hate…sweet sweet hate, the only damned thing that matters….the true blue currency of all true blue politics. It is patriotic to hate. It is spine tingling, self fulfilling, self aggrandizing, self actualizing to hate. Hate is the woman dreamt about, the man that got away.

Hate makes the world go round, the politicos live, the voters vote, the screamers scream, the schemers scheme. Hate is currency. Hate is argument. Hate is justification. Hate is the stupidity in our souls, the only way to fly.

There are never any real organizing principles in sainted public policy. There are plenty of nice 8 x 10 glossies that look nice and sound good and give the talkers something to shout about when they move their lips and strain their excuses for a rational mind. In the end though all is sheer advertising, sheer sloganeering, sheer posturing, agenda setting and sheer playing to the low level fruit.

Honest agenda setting requires an honest notation of honest problems and an honest will to get an honest solution that will work in a non dream environment in a non dream world. Achieve “A”, please, please,damn it. Damn well get “A” done, please, please, damn it. Damn well master the damned forces to get “A” done, please, please, damn it. How damned far can we push? How damned smart can we be? Who the hell do we have to rush and run over?

Right makes might when right exists. Might makes right when fools talk. The rest is just charade.

What happens when someone or something is inopportune enough and crass enough to show all of the little children that their happy little games are not the real live little adolescent fancies that they love so much… that their over abundant sensual highs gathered from the mental onanism that keeps them going are not only things that matter in the passing parade? What happens when stupid self absorption and lives lived in walled off fantasy lands are not just the hyped up video games for restless wimps of arrested development that makes their politics worth while?

What happens when hell freezes over and the sky falls and the games just wont work? There is no other life…there is no other love…all else is a nasty illusion put forth by bastions of faded wasted dissipated hacks who think. A dirty world out there to ruin games and show them up. Commie bastards and thinkers. Weak crybaby bleeding hearts. Stupid matters. Not this other stuff.

So they play to the base to win primaries in districts that are skewed to the base to begin with. So they play to the hatred of the opposition in districts are are skewed to the hatred of the opposition in the first place. So they have to defend themselves from the red meat haters who are the ones that can get them if they are not pure enough and they sell their souls, if they have any, to the dictates of their political church…..What a guy…what a girl.

So they live to have enemies and they live to be holy rollers. So they live to be the truth brigade with truth dictated by the conveniences of orientation and fiery zeal. So they live to be the standard bearers for lame talking points and dip loaded political sloganeering. So they can’t speak or act without passing through the clearing house of pure agenda and they sell it whole to the great haters who scream the loudest, think the least. So they found the new template for government and power and they have found no other incentive to shape their behaviors. So they do what they do. They spew obnoxious obnoxiousness and they turn governing into children’s play.

Want things to be different? Cry me a river. Let the system stay gamed. Let anyone of reason refuse to pick any candidates of reason. Let anyone of reason have any choices other that tweedle dee and tweedle dumb and you gots what you got…you gets what you get….you takes what you take …and you cry in your moldy beer. Too damned bad.

The whirlwind has passed. We avert calamity. Dingy and dirty and unclean our heroes saw us through the fires of hell and we stand now upon the precipice of the awakening of a long and fruitful future abundant with bounty, awash with philosopher kings.

Then and again. We have seen our stars save us before. Always then and again. Always the mystique of brave humanity in flux. Always the mystique of brave humanity traversing the problems of existence in ways practical, necessary, burdening, resting.

Invitations to commingle with the fates come upon us often and we get mellow at the thought. Forever the mysteries of the fair and noble society haunts our aspirations and our dreams. Up from the muck comes our climb. Up from the muck comes the climb of those who honor those who have before been bloody but unbowed, who have suffered the noble fight, stood firm with injury, with courage, with strong silent wisdom.

We see in our own betterment now the betterment for all. Those who see in our ordered world the safe havens for all, the beacon, the standard for all are comforted and safe.

We have our aspirations, our lusts, our meaningless diversions. We have our firm foundations of good moral backbone, our glorious antipathies, our grand memories. We have our glorious antecedents whose memory is twisted well to our benefits. We cherish the fight. Honor. Always honor. The gods appreciate honor. The gods appreciate hope….. the last vestige of the mind that claims for itself no power.

To the spoils go the victors. To the cunning go the cracks in the game, the cracks in the system. Primaries are only for the extremes to invoke their blackmail. Congressional districts are only drawn and worked for the extremes to invoke their blackmail. The flowing money of those who love power are only for the extremes to invoke their blackmail. The extremes are only for the extremes to invoke their blackmail.

Blackmail is a lovely tool. A tool of fascists and thugs, authoritarians and self important puff pieces. Blackmail is good. Greed is good. Good is bad. Power is for those who get it, not those who can exercise it. Power is for those with the lean and hungry look. Power is for the ones who love the night and love the shiv. Power is for the killers, the breakers, the owners the tellers. Power given is given to the ravenous and the ravenous have their hungers and the ravenous have their wants.

It is hard to stand in the way of the ravenous. It is hard to be a piece of meat in the way of the ravenous. Pieces of meat get devoured. Pieces of meat are made to be devoured. Pieces of meat put themselves out there as pieces of meat. Waiting to be devoured.

Saved we are by our intrepid heroes. Saved we are by those governing fools. Governance is what they do. They dance it fine. Measly little power grabbers. A laugh. Measly little over aged adolescents. A scream. The best this country has to offer, they. The proud poster children for American exceptionalism they. We are proud.

So. Now we have our moment in time. It is a fine and great moment…a moment that can be a magic springboard and springboard us back to the very best versions of our very best selves. It can be a springboard to the very best selves that we hold dear and deep in our hearts, the ones we think of when we day dream and are heroic.

We are now teary eyed wonders saluting our flags of strength and it is not by accident that we brave many things in order to envision the best of all noblemen and women. Honor fulfilled, large injustices not metastasized, we, as one, cherish our common suffering and our common courage and valor. Oh but were that my exploits could be chivalrous and true. Oh but were I a standard bearer for the sure and true. My heart would sing forever.

We tell our selves. We tell our selves again and again. Oh, but were that me, that soldier of soldiers, that brave stoic soldier of soldiers. Oh that the moment in time to be good is here again. Oh that it is a moment of no frustration, of no foolishness, of no ass backwards behavior. Oh, the goodness and joy.

As have been many that have come before, so often, so hard charging, so eminently luminous…..the past is prologue. It sets that which must come next. Our past was yesterday. It will not bear on tomorrow. Our reactions harsh and fearful and weak. Our past small, narrow and petty.

We come from hard times and look through many prisms. There has been frustration and false premise. There has been false horizons and false dawns. Actors act. They wonder. They cannot see yesterday. They cannot see tomorrow. They can, though, be the glory of their times.

Yesterday’s toys were sullen things. Yesterday’s toys will be no more.
